Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
