Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed instalment that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for embracing chaos and insanity with similar enthusiasm, all while weaving gripping, politically driven tales. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two visionaries whose creations have represented all of those qualities.

Show Details

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a fresh setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant trust and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a interpretation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared unconventional, daring sensibility to the television.”

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
