An exciting playable preview is set to go live on January 7th, providing a sizable glimpse into the game's opening hours. Notably, any save data achieved within this demo is eligible to be transferred directly into the main game upon its eventual release.
More Than a Straightforward Re-release: A Thorough Transformation
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined constitutes a ground-up reimagining of the seminal year 2000 RPG, first known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a notable departure from other Dragon Quest re-releases, like the previously launched HD-2D versions, this version utilizes a unique three-dimensional aesthetic. Locales are designed to evoke detailed dioramas, with characters having a delightful chibi-esque design.

Major Gameplay Improvements and Updates

- New Job Mechanics: A completely new vocation has been added for this reimagining. Furthermore, party members gain the capacity to master a second vocation, significantly expanding customization possibilities.
Such refinements seek to mitigate one of the original game's frequent criticisms: its considerable scope. That original adventure could easily require more than 100 hours to finish. The new version has been specifically designed to refine flow and cut down on perceived bloat.

Interested JRPG fans will be able to start experiencing the reimagined world of Dragon Quest VII firsthand when the free trial becomes available on Wednesday, January 7th. The complete game, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, is then set to release on February 5, 2026. The title will be available on a broad range of systems, such as Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
