Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
